Felipe Massa has become the first driver to secome to new rules set-out by the FIA this weekend. The FIA has, for the first time, applied a new grid demotion rule, punishing Massa for his part in an incident with Pedro de la Rosa yesterday.
Massa will be moved back 10 places after qualifying in America in two weeks time. The rule is part of the FIA’s tougher stance on racing incidents in Grands Prix.
Massa and De la Rosa touched at high speed while battling for 13th place. Both men retired as a result of the incident.
