Irvine raced hard from a fifth place on the grid and benefitted from the Williams-BMW retirement's early in the race.
Speaking after his emotional podium place, the Ulsterman said: "I know what I am doing next year and this does not change anything at all.
"My future is bright and it's all pretty much decided. I know what I want to do, people will just have to wait and see."
Irvine is widely expected to race alongside Giancarlo Fisichella at Jordan Honda next season.
