Arrows update

The FIA today (Wednesday) stated that they had received the detailed explanation requested from Arrows after they withdrew from last weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, but that no decision had been taken over their position.

"We have received the communication from Arrows and we are currently studying this communication. It would be inappropriate to make any further comment at this stage. We received the communication after close of business yesterday (Tuesday)," an FIA press delegate explained.

TW - Arrows Arrows announced they would not be taking part in Sunday's race, for the second time in a row after not racing in Hungary two weeks earlier, because it could endanger an impending deal with new American investors. However, the FIA want a more detailed explanation and said the team could possibly face a penalty.

Director of Communications Richard Woods was quoted by news agency AFP as saying at the weekend: "We've asked Arrows for a detailed explanation about their state of health and following certain decisions over the past few weeks. We will then decide which position to adopt.

"It could go from a simple fine to being banned from the circuit," added Woods. "But before any decision is taken we must consider the large number of people who are employed with the team."

There has been no official date set for the FIA to announce their decision, and it is believed to be unlikely that they will reveal their position this week.
