Good news for Jos? [28 Dec 2002|07:49pm]
[ mood | curious ]

It was reported yesterday that former Arrows man, Jos Verstappen is hoping to announce some good news in the coming weeks regarding in his future in Formula One. The Dutchman is a hot favourite for the vacant Minardi seat in 2003 and after talks with team boss Paul Stoddart recently, he is feeling confident that things will move along nicely to a satisfactory conclusion.

If he secures the ride, Verstappen will line up alongside British rookie, Justin Wilson. Wilson secured a three-year deal with the Faenza based squad after securing two million pounds in sponsorship by selling shares in his future. Verstappen met the 2001 F3000 champion recently and although he doesn't know him well enough to form a strong opinion at this stage, the overall impression was positive.

"I don't know him that well. I know he drove in Formula Nissan and F3000, also that he is very tall, Jos said on his official website. Whether he is the ideal teammate? I don't know, I am not in the position to be very picky. There is not a lot to choose from for me. I'll see, I've spoken with him last week and he seems alright."

Leo Ress leaves Sauber [28 Dec 2002|07:50pm]
[ mood | hopeful ]

Sauber's head of research and Development, Leo Ress, has left the Swiss based Formula One team after 17 years of faithful service, to take up a role with Honda where he plans to further his career with a new challenge.

Ress, who was only promoted to the position as head of R and D two years ago after working on thirteen of the teams' F1 challengers, the C7 to the C19, left under amicable conditions and will be sorely missed by team boss Peter Sauber and all those involved in the Hinwill based squad.

At this stage there is no confirmation as to Ress' replacement.
