Minardi to reveal driver line up?

It is thought that Minardi will announce at least one of their drivers for the impending 2003 Championship season after calling a press conference for Tuesday the 17th of December.

At 11 am tomorrow morning in the Concorde Suite of the Heathrow Hilton Hotel, near Terminal 4 at Heathrow Airport, the team will be making an important announcement to the press and at this stage it is highly speculated that either a driver, or a new team sponsor, will be revealed, however it will more than likely be a driver.

Team boss Paul Stoddart said a few weeks ago that he hoped to announce at least one of the men that will be piloting his car in the very near future and after announcing backing from HMG recently, it is highly likely that Verstappen will be revealed.

However, there is still a lot of speculation regarding the teams intended line-up with strong reports in Holland linking Christijan Albers to a seat as well as several other serious contenders, including Jos, Bernoldi and Justin Wilson.

At least one part of the puzzle will be revealed tomorrow and I will bring you the news as soon as it comes to hand.

Albers & Verstappen wont be driving for Minardi so who is?

Speculation regarding Minardi's announcement continues to rage as various driver names come to mind as possible contenders for the two available seats. There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks that young Dutch driver Christijan Albers is in line for the drive and has even signed the contract, however according to his manager, it won't be his name announced tomorrow.

No it's not, not tomorrow, Lodewijk Varossieau told us. We are very far (in negotiations) and I think he will drive next year, but he is not the one being announced tomorrow.

So, is it Jos Verstappen? We have heard from a very reliable source that the former Arrows driver isn't the one to be announced either, and Varossieau doesn't think so either.

No, I don't think it's Jos, its another driver, he said.

Anthony Davidson is out of the question as he doesn't have the funds, and our sources tell us it won't be Justin Wilson or Bryan Herta either. Alex Yoong is headed to the CART series, leaving Enrique Bernoldi as another potential, however the Brazilian is also in the running for a Jordan drive. We'll know the answer tomorrow!
