No seat for Frentzen

After leaving the Arrows team last week, Heinz Harald Frentzen looks unlikely to find another formula one drive in time for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Since Frentzen left Arrows, the German and his management have been looking for alternatives to allow him to see out the rest of the season in a race car. The only way that this would be possible for Hungary would be if another driver was to lose his current seat. Another problem is that the mid-season testing ban is in force at the moment, which would mean Frentzen would have to turn up to the twisty Eastern-European circuit with virtually no knowlegde or either team nor car.

When asked, Frentzen's manager Monte Field declared that Hungary was a long shot but that the rest of the season was not unthinkable.

"It's probably less likely to happen," Field said. "Something came up for us and it was just best that we ended our association with Arrows. I cannot say what at the moment, but we do intend to do everything we can to ensure he will drive at some time."

Alonso to take Frentzen's seat

Young Spanish racing star Fernando Alonso is set to be announced as the replacement for Heinz Harald Frentzen at the Arrows team from the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The 21-year-old recently signed to drive for Renault next season after joining the team this season as test driver, after an impressive rookie debut with the Minardi team.

The move is good news for Renault team boss Flavio Briatore, as it gives Alonso the opportunity to increase his racing experience, having previously only competed in 40 car races including last years F1 season. It is also good news for Arrows, as they are presented with a strong highly rated young driver who has the talent to score points for the team.

Arrows are expected to make an announcement tomorrow concerning their future which is likely to contain the news that Alonso will join the team for the rest of the season.
